![]() ![]() I tried to rotate one and it didn’t go so well. However, I can’t transform them without them becoming blurry. I cut and paste them to separate layers so I could move them independently. Thank you so much, it worked they’re transparent. My goal is to change this to become transparent, to make the letters 'hollow' so if it were printed on a shirt, the shirts color would show through the letter. The file has multiple different layers, and the top layer is the font/wording which is colored white. If you have several layers in inkscape might be possible to split the image up for easier handling into Gimp. I have a vector PDF file which I can edit in Inkscape. Things you might need to do in Inkscape, ungroup objects, convert objects to vectors. ![]() Might be a lot of them but at least they are there. You can vary the degree of transparency of. That will get you an image much the same as exporting a png from Inkscape and also all the paths. In this lesson, youll add transparency to artwork in several ways. as well as scaling everything if required. In Gimp, a regular File -> Open to bring up the Render SVG dialogue. Had to pull out an ai from my sample images, in Inkscape ungrouped, saved as an Inkscape svg. Best you can expect is a flattened image. ![]() ![]() (07-05-2019, 10:03 AM)rich2005 Wrote: You will get nowhere copying from Inkscape and pasting into Gimp. (Please don’t suggest I redraw them in gimp because this is weeks and weeks of work, and need the pattern in the next couple of days) I’m not the most computer literate person, so please give very detailed instructions for solutions (I work best with pictures) I'm using windows 10, with 64 bit, and Gimp 2.10 So either I need a solution to enable the png images to be scaled UP or figure out why my vectors aren’t copy and pasting into gimp as transparent. They were scaled to the right size that I need when I exported them in inkscape, but are very small on the canvas in gimp which is the same size) But when I scale up the induvial drawings they get blurry, I’m guessing it’s because they are no longer vector lines, (which is why I tried to make them vectors in the first place). I eventually selected and exported each individual line drawing as a png, then opened each as new layer in gimp, they are now transparent line drawings. After the trace, draw a white filled shape with the Bézier tool (aka Pen tool), to cover all the white areas inside the logo. Here are a couple of simple workarounds: Trace as you would normally, using the 'remove background' option. (I need them transparent so I can layer the images over each other) When you use the 'remove background' option, Inkscape cant tell the difference between white and transparent. I tried opening the svg file in Gimp, I tried saving as a png and opening in Gimp. Finally, select Path -> Difference and youll have a square with a ring cut out from it. Now, arrange the shapes in the way you want but with the circle on top of the square. I’ve tried the normal cut and paste, paste as new layer, duplicate and paste (everything that can be found on google search). Next, convert square to path by Path -> Object to Path and the circle to path by Path -> Stroke to Path. They lose all transparency, both old and new drawings. (All line drawings) They’ve been working well in Inkscape, I’ve also added new images I made using the pen tool in Inkscape, now the problems starts when I try to copy and paste to Gimp. I saved all the AI files as svg’s before I ended my subscription with adobe. I’m trying to recreate and tweak a pattern tile that I originally made using Illustrator and Photoshop. (3.) the fill of the S is set to royal blue, which comes in nice & with full color.I really need help. (2.) the fill of the S is set to a light pink, but you can see that the S looks more purple, because the pink color is partially transparent, and also shows the teal background, making it look purple. The files I uploaded are (1.) the fill of the S is set to WHITE, but it's transparent. (this is how the YouTube video said to get a transparent background for PNG exports). Blend Mode: Normal Document properties: Background is "checkerboard background", and the background color is white, but the alpha channel slider is on 0. The alpha channel slider is all the way to 100. The fill color for my object is selected, and is set to "white" (RGBA: ffffffff). Colors show just fine, but white, or any of the lighter shades of any color all show transparent, or a partially transparent. Now, one of the objects in my design is transparent, though it should be white. So, I followed a YouTube video for making the background transparent. When I exported a PNG, it exported it with a white background, even though it wasn't designed with one. I got a new laptop last weekend & installed Inkscape 1.1. I've been using Inkscape for several years now (though, I'm certainly no expert! Everything I know is "self taught" - mostly discovered by accident. ![]()
